SRI had the opportunity to participate in a full week conference (July 7th-14th) on the subject of Imamate, hosted by the Shrine of al-‘Abbas in Karbala, Iraq.

Participants were scholars from both Western Universities and Islamic seminaries, such as Dr. Robert Gleave of Exeter University, UK and Ayatullah Sayyid Ali al-Milani from Qum.

The title of Dr. Khetia’s paper was The Imām al-Nātiq (The Speaking Imam) in Twelver Shiʿism and its Variegated Usage in Early Shiʿi Hadith literature.

This was a unique opportunity where scholars from Western Universities who specialize in Shiʿi studies could interact with various professors from Iraqi Universities, in addition to numerous senior scholars from the Islamic seminaries of Qum and Najaf.

SRI is glad to be have had the opportunity to participate in this unprecedented gathering of Shiʿi studies experts and future avenues for further collaboration.
