About the Shi’a Research Institute
Our Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is entrusted with the overall positioning of the Shi’a Research Institute, including all matters pertaining to academics, future planning, and organizational management.
Principal
Syed Muhammad Rizvi
Maulana Syed Muhammad Rizvi holds a Master of Arts in History from Simon Frasier University, and has achieved Dars-e Kharij level from over 10 years of studies in Hawza-e ‘Ilmiya-e Qum.
He is an author, researcher, orator, and Resident Imam based in Toronto, Canada.
Academic Director
Dr. Vinay Khetia
Dr. Vinay Khetia holds a Ph.D in Religious Studies from McMaster University.
He has also attained a Master of Arts in History and Philosophy of Religion from Concordia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History, Religious Studies, & Near & Middle Eastern Studies from University of Toronto.

Akil Karim
Akil Karim holds a Masters of Business Administration in Finance, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Quantitative Methods.
He is a Management Consultant in Toronto, Canada.

Syed Mahdi Rizvi
Mahdi Rizvi, an equities investor, holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Management.
He has extensive experience managing and participating in various types of non-profit organizations.
