Angels, Demons, and Jinn in Comparative Perspective
On January 22nd, 2025, at the University of Toronto, join us at 7PM-9PM for this event which will delve into the shared and distinct understandings of these spiritual beings in both the Christian and Muslim traditions, fostering meaningful conversation and deeper mutual understanding. Light refreshments will be served.
All are welcome to this engaging and thought-provoking discussion, jointly hosted by Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto, and the Shi’a Research Institute.
Speakers:
Dr. Justin Stratis
Justin Stratis is the Academic Dean and Professor of Systematic Theology at Wycliffe College. He holds a PhD in Systematic Theology from the University of Aberdeen and previously served as Tutor in Christian Doctrine at Trinity College Bristol, where he directed the doctoral program in partnership with the University of Aberdeen. His work focuses on the theological interpretation of Scripture.
Dr. Saiyad Nizamuddin Ahmad
Saiyad Nizamuddin Ahmad is currently the Prophet Muhammad University Professor of Shia Islam Studies at the Florida International University (FIU) where he holds the rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies. He is also an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Exeter, UK as well as a faculty member of Mufid Academic Seminary, Fairfax, Virginia.
