Sainthood in Islam and Christianity

Join us for this interfaith event on sainthood in Islam and Christianity, examining how each tradition understands the nature and role of holy persons. Through concise presentations and dialogue, Dr Vinay Khetia and Dr Justin Stratis will explore Christian doctrines of sanctification and intercession alongside Islamic teachings on awliya’, piety, and divine proximity. Together, they will consider how both faiths articulate the relationship between God’s holiness and human examplars, and how these beliefs shape worship, ethics, and community life.

Dr Vinay Khetia is the Academic Director of the Shi’a Research Institute. Dr Justin Stratis is Vice Principal, Academic Dean and Professor of Systematic Theology at Wycliffe College.

Hosted by the Shi’a Research Institute and Wycliffe College, this event offers a clear, accessible opportunity to compare core theological convictions and deepen mutual understanding of two rich theological worlds.

This is a free event, open to the public, and no registration is required.
