Reflecting on Hope Through the Qurʾān and the Bible

On May 7th, 2025, at the University of Toronto, join us at 6PM-8PM for this event, where we will discover the theme of hope through meaningful dialogue and reflection on selected passages from the Qurʾān and the Bible. Let’s come together to share perspectives and foster deeper understanding. Join us for a shared meal after the discussion, offering a chance to connect in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

All are welcome to this engaging and thought-provoking discussion, jointly hosted by the Intercultural Dialogue Institute (IDI) GTA, and the Shi’a Research Institute, and to be held within the Toronto School of Theology building, at the University of Toronto.

Albert Frolov is a PhD candidate at Regis College (Toronto University). His PhD work is in comparative theology and philosophical theology. His holds a Candidate of Science degree in philosophy from Kazakh National University of al-Farabi (Kazakhstan) and previously taught graduate and undergraduate courses on Islamic and World Philosophy and Theology in Kazakh National University of al-Farabi and Suleyman Demirel University in Kazakhstan, and in Respect Graduate School in USA (PA). He is interested in the philosophy and spiritual methods of Sufism

Stephen Chester

Stephen Chester

Lord & Lady Coggan Professor of New Testament, Wycliffe College, University of Toronto

Stephen has taught New Testament at Wycliffe College since 2019. He was previously a member of faculty at North Park Theological Seminary, Chicago (2006-2019) and International Christian College, Glasgow (1999-2006). Stephen’s research interests focus on Pauline theology, especially the history of reception of Paul’s texts in the Reformation era. They also include conversion in the ancient world and the theological interpretation of Scripture. Stephen is married to Betsy and they have two adult sons, Iain and Mark.
