SRI Principal Syed Muhammad Rizvi had the honor of presenting a paper at the “Zakat International Conference: Implementation and Impact in the Contemporary World”.
His paper, “Zakat and Khums in the Shi’i Tradition and its Contemporary North American Practice” was presented as part of a panel discussing “An Overview of Zakat and Khums in the Sunni and Shi’i Traditions and their Contemporary North American Practice.”
The two-day conference, held both in-person at Huron University College in London, Canada, and online, was organized by:
- The Centre for Islamic Theology, Ethics & Spirituality (CITES)
- The Faculty of Theology at Huron University
- The Center for Islam in the Contemporary World (CICW) at Shenandoah University
The event was co-convened by Dr. Ingrid Mattson (London & Windsor Community Chair in Islamic Studies, Director of CITES at Huron University College) and Dr. Ermin Sinanović (Executive Director and Scholar in Residence at CICW, Shenandoah University).
